Pastoral/Union Pipes

Pastoral Bagpipe

An unusual configuration in that the bass drone is straight. Normally it would be looped back through the stock to reduce the overall length to just slightly longer than the Baritone Drone as in the sets shown below.

Pastoral Bagpipe

Another unusual configuration in that although there appear to be a total of four drones there are only in fact two. The loop of the bass drone is ingeniously disguised as two Tenor drones which are joined by a short lateral tube between the bells.

Union/Pastoral Bagpipe

An early set of Union Pipes or conversion of a set of Pastoral Pipes

Union Bagpipe

An fine set of Union Pipes by Michael Egan. The instrument has suffered some mis-assembly with the top of the Baritone Drone being added to the end of the Baritone Regulator.
