Union Pipes : Regulators and Chanter

Attributed to Brennan

At present I am researching Brennan and hope to have a more complete history soon - until then here are a few notes.

J.E. "Ed" Brennan was a piper and the son of a piper. He lived at 732, Butler Street in Philadelphia, and made pipes in the first third of the twentieth century.

Brennan made bellows for the Taylors and probably helped out in the workshop and learned a thing or two, probably enough to be able to make his own pipes, or perhaps purchased bored out blanks from the Taylors to make a set of his own now and then. He inherited the Taylor's tools.

The regulators shown below are in a simpler style to that used by the Taylors with the keywork being of similar construction to that of the chanter. Taylor pipes have the keys held by plates dovetailed and riveted to the body.
