Also sometimes known as the "Chabretta" it is based upon the Cabrette and was
manufactured by Ferdinand Jousse (1859 -1933) in the region around the town of
St. Flour. The instrument consists of a Cabrette
style chanter with two drones, one on each side. The drones being either in unison with
the six finger note or one in unison with the six finger note and the other in unison
with the three finger note.
The instrument uses double reeds in both the chanter and the drones giving a tone rich in harmonics. An ideal instrument for those who want a Cabrette type of sound coupled with a strong drone. The instrument is supplied with an extra drone so that both styles can be used. |
